Sidney & Donna Crawford hosted “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at The Crawford Farm” in west Statesville Novenmber 18th. The Crawford Farm fed more than 260 law enforcement officers from Iredell County, including Iredell County Sheriff’s Department, Statesville Police Department, Troutman Police Department and State Highway Patrol. Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, Statesville Police Department Chief David Addison, Troutman Police Department Chief Tina Fleming, County Commissioner-elect Scottie Brown were also in attendance.
Donna Crawford said “We believe in supporting our law enforcement officers. There is so much negativity across America right now and we wanted them to know that their community supports them in all this chaos. It’s not much, but we wanted to show a little appreciation. The Crawford’s hope to make this an annual event and expand to other front-line workers next year including Statesville Fire Department, Mooresville Police & Fire Departments, EMS and Dispatch. Donna was a 20-year trauma nurse and now sells combat gauze to hospitals and the military. Sidney worked in healthcare sales, now Callaway Industrial (a sponsor of the event) and their son is a Mooresville fire fighter. This is incredibly personal to them. Donna emphasizes how these essential workers never miss a day of work due to Covid-19 and many don’t realize what these people have to endure on a daily basis.
Chief Campbell recognizes “we’re blessed to have this family as part of our community. All the supporters & partners of this event. We appreciate them welcoming us all here, they make us feel loved and appreciated.” Chief Addison agrees and added “we’re honored to serve. That’s the reason why we’re here and we serve a great community.”
